10 o’clock list: Cove-Related Thrill Pitches We Can’t Write Anymore

How much more Cove-related content can we produce? Only time will tell.

Our beloved Cove is no more, and no group of students has felt this loss quite like The Thrill. To try to cope, I have gone through every list of pitches the staff has created since I’ve been a writer here (that’s 3.5 years kids! Damn near an eternity in Kenyon time) and plucked the best cove-related ideas we’ve come up with and can no longer write. If you’re thinking, “Hey, this sounds like a half-assed post! You just copied and pasted what other people wrote!” then you’d be right. Anyways, here they are:

1. “Cove people react to real life.” Ok, to be fair, we could still do this, especially now that “Cove people” have to face “real life.” But writing it now would be more like capturing widespread “Teen Mom”-esque “haHA EVERYTHING IS FINE I’M NOT CRYING, YOU’RE CRYING” panic and not “16 and Pregnant”-type “Wait WHAT IS THIS? I’m excited and scared at the same time!” panic.

Sendoff Date Changes, New Rules for 2016

In an email sent to students this morning, the College announced a new date for the annual Summer Sendoff Concert as well as new rules that will apply this year.

Kenyon Klexicon: Y is for Young Writers

Of course every good Kenyon student has heard of the Kenyon Review. But did you know they host a summer camp every year for aspiring writers? Come to Gambier in late-June or mid-July and you will see students everywhere, notebook and pen in hand, aimlessly wandering campus trying to find some inspiration amongst the trees (unless it is 10:07 a.m., then all of them will be in line at Wiggins).

Meet a PC/SMA: Leah Annitto ’16

Every week, The Thrill features a member of a student-support organization to bring awareness about the various resources available to the student body on campus. This week, we’re featuring Leah Annitto ’16 from Princeton, NJ, who is both a PC and an SMA. Stay safe this weekend, and know that there is always someone you can talk to if you need help.

If you want to speak to a PC, they have Office Hours in the new Health and Counseling Center. Drop by and talk to a PC every Sunday-Thursday, 7-9 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays 5:30-7:30 p.m. Or call their 24/7 hotline at 740-398-3806.

The SMAs are subordinate to the Counseling Center, so anything you tell them is kept confidential. They also have an anonymous hotline you can call if you need assistance: 740-358-1544.
